We are encouraging all of our employees along with the City of Lubbock employees to use our services on Friday and take part in Earth Day to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Instead of doing it on Saturday on Earth Day, we chose to do it on Friday to give everyone the opportunity to use Citibus and take it to work. The free fare includes our Citibus On-Demand service as well as our fixed-route bus service.

The On-Demand service is a shared-ride service so allowing extra time to get to work that day would be important. The same goes for the fixed-route bus service.

For the fixed-route bus service, we understand that we don’t cover all of Lubbock, but we are suggesting riders that aren’t close to a bus stop to park in big parking lots where there is a bus stop so that they can park and ride to their location (Ex. South Plains Mall, Walmart, etc.). (Or, they can just use our On-Demand service.)

How to book: Rides can only be booked the day of on either our GoPass app or the Citibus On-Demand app. (We are in the process of moving our On-Demand services for general public riders to the GoPass app. That is why there are two apps available to use at the moment.) I would also recommend scheduling rides one-two hours in advanced just to get a ride set up.

  • GoPass: Using our GoPass app, riders can see what would be the quickest way to get to their location using either the fixed route or our On-Demand service. When using GoPass, riders will need to select Citibus as the preferred agency in the profile settings.
  • Citibus On-Demand: Riders can also use the On-Demand app to book rides.

Download the GoPass app on the App Store or Google Play.

We are also encouraging riders to take photos or videos using the services on Earth Day so that we can create a recap of the day!
